InPraxis is built on a broad base of research and writing expertise. We have conducted nationwide surveys of social studies, history, geography and civics curricula, correlated curriculum to organizational goals and mandates for resource development, and facilitated focus group research.
  • The development of accessible social studies and language arts strategies, leveled support descriptions, illustrative examples and rubrics for Alberta Education’s inclusive education planning tool

  • Research and writing of information and resources to support Alberta Education’s initiatives for learning coaches in Alberta schools, accessed through the links on http://education.alberta.ca/department/ipr/inclusion/capacity/learning.aspx.

  • A field-based research study of school- and district-based learning coaches across five Alberta school jurisdictions and the development of a comprehensive report for Alberta Education’s learning coach initiatives.

  • A number of chapters were researched and written for Alberta Education’s Making a Difference: Meeting diverse learning needs with differentiated instruction.

  • An environmental scan of literature and resources related to teaching about locally focused governance issues, field-based research and analysis of junior high curriculum and teacher input was completed as part of a needs assessment for Alberta Municipal Affairs.

  • A review of the literature and a scan of existing international partnerships in Alberta as well as the writing and development of A Guide to International School Partnerships for Alberta Education.

  • Research, literature review and analysis on what makes effective professional development for the Alberta Education AISI background publication, Effective Professional Development: What the Research Says.

  • Research, literature review and environmental scan as well as analysis of conceptions, attributes and structures of professional learning communities for the Alberta Education AISI background publication, Professional Learning Communities: An Exploration.

  • The research, analysis and writing of chapters for the Alberta Education publication, The Heart of the Matter: Character and Citizenship Education in Alberta Schools, developed for schools and jurisdictions to support and enhance character and citizenship education initiative.

  • Field-based research and environmental scan of Kindergarten through Grade 12 history and social studies curricula across Canada for a research report, including analysis and recommendations, on the teaching of Canadian history in English Canada was completed for the Historica Foundation.
